Yeah, that will fix everything. Are you kidding me? Talking about looking for politically motivated press. I haven’t had much to agree on with what the White House says, but White House Spokesman Scott Stanzel’s reply, "We don’t believe the fill rates have a meaningful impact on oil supplies," is right on the money. At the rate prices have been rising the 10-20 cents that it might reduce gas prices will be negated in short order.
The amount of oil being sent to the emergency oil reserves is tiny in comparison. Current shipments come to about 70,000 barrels per day, while the United States uses about 21 million bpd. It’s like using a band aid to close a 6-inch gash.
When will the government and the people of this nation realize that demanding any actions that has to do with oil will not, WILL NOT, prove to be long term effective. Oil will eventually run out. Period. And our civilization will come to a screeching halt if more research and technological development isn’t funded and conducted toward meaningful alternate forms of energy.
New ideas and inventions may turn out to be dangerous. We’ve dealt with that throughout mankind’s history. More money needs to be invested and risks taken. Taking risks is what has gotten us to this point in our history. Why stop now?
