I’m Back! Check Out The New Theme…

Sorry for the delay. Between life events and working with my Web Designer, miloIIIIVII, to redesign the blog theme, it’s been a few weeks. But I’ve got a whole lot to share and gripe about in the world of energy and most importantly renewable energy.

I hope everyone agrees that the new format is easier to read and a bit more interesting everytime you come to visit. Seriously, leave my site and come back. It will look a little different every time. Honest.

Well, I finally finished Neal Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon–1139 pages–6 weeks(I tend to be a slow reader). Granted it doesn’t have anything to do with energy. But it did have something interesting to say about invention. I’ll leave you with this quote until my next post…

"If it will take take 10 years to make the machine with available technology, and only 5 years to make it with new technology, and it will only take 2 years to invent the new technology, then you can do it in 7 years by inventing the new technology first."

Now take this concept and apply it to anything we’re trying to accomplish, especially the energy industry. The most obvious to me is the auto industry and the many ways they keep rehashing the same old tech just to tweak a few more miles out of a gallon of gas. I hate to use a cliche here, but maybe they need to really think out of the same old engine box and start from scratch.
